Louisville Theological Seminary

Louisville Theological Seminary is the Presbyterian Seminary that is located closest to First Presbyterian Church of Bloomfield, and it is also the seminary from which our Pastor Peggy graduated.  We support Louisville Theological Seminary with both prayer and money.

Louisville Seminary has equipped women and men for the continuing ministry of Jesus Christ for 150 years. Each year its graduates, who now number over 2,000, take calls as pastors, educators, counselors, denominational administrators, and other servants of the body of Christ. They perform their ministry in all 50 states and overseas.

They are prepared for ministry by Louisville Seminary's unique approach, which integrates practical experience with classroom education through the field education program. Students gain hands-on ministerial experience through supervised placements in congregations, agencies, hospitals and prisons. This experience is taken into the team-taught classes, which characterize Louisville Seminary's collaborative educational process.

Our congregations need educated pastors.  Over half of those leading congregations today will reach retirement age by 2025. For ourselves, and especially for our children and grandchildren, we must see that sound theological leadership is there for the future.

We give because God has given to us; given with extravagant generosity. In addition to the world we live in, God has given us life itself, and the ultimate gift of sacrifice of his Son. As children of God, we try to emulate God and to follow Christ's example of giving.

We give to Louisville Theological Seminary to sustain those called to ministry, to demonstrate our theology of stewardship, and to honor and remember those who have worked with us throughout our history as a church in Bloomfield.
