 Our Missionaries in Thailand

Nathan and Bethany Scott are serving with Youth With a Mission in Thailand.  They arrived in Thailand in July, 2003, and plan to remain there for several years.   Bethany and Nathan are both members of our church.  Their address in Thailand is:  Post Office Box 17, Baan Du, Chiang Rai 57100, THAILAND.  They can also be reached at bnscott2002@yahoo.com.

This is Nathan’s first trip to Thailand and Bethany’s second trip.  They are living in Chiang Rai in the northern-most province of Thailand.  This is the Golden Triangle region, famous for the opium drug trade, near the borders with Burma and Laos.  The drug trade remains a serious issue in the area.

Bethany and Nathan are learning to speak Thai and it has been a major focus thus far.   They are also working with Eden House, a home for girls rescued from extreme at-risk situations.  Currently 16 girls live at Eden House; their ages are from 3 to 16.  Most of the girls are from the Akha hill tribe.  They are accepted at Eden House because they have only one parent or no parents, and they come from extreme poverty.   Some of the girls were within days of being sold into prostitution.  The girls will be raised in a family environment and will have an opportunity to attend college.   They write:  "We want to see God’s kingdom come to Thailand and the rest of the world.  We appreciate your partnership with us towards this goal, and are grateful for all of your prayers and support!"
