BARBARA AND GARY SCOTT UNIVERSITY OF NATIONS YOUTH WITH A MISSION BARBARA AND GARY SCOTT are missionaries with the University of the Nations in Kona, Hawaii, which is a part of Youth With a Mission (YWAM). They are working with others to prepare those who would become missionaries to carry the word of Christ to Asia. Barbara and Gary joined the staff at University of Nations in July 2001 as Hale Ola (Home of Light) managers ministering to the needs of the Mission Builders and managing their housing needs. They have since served on staff with the School of Communication and the Biblical View of Man, the Business 2003 Seminar, the Writers Seminar with featured writers Brock and Bodie Thoene, the Chancellor's Council, and the Kona Foundation Leadership team, and the China Focus Discipleship Training School. Currently Gary and Barbara are the Alumni & Church Relations Directors for the University of Nations. Further, Gary works with the Visitor Information Center giving visitor tours of the University and Barbara is a writer for the University's Transformations magazine. They have been married 32 years. They have two married sons, Justin and Nathan. Both sons have completed Youth With A Mission Discipleship Training Schools. Nathan is married to the former Bethany Holt, a member of this church. Before coming to the University of the Nations in Kona, Hawaii, Gary and Barbara lived in Bellevue, Washington. Gary was in banking for nearly 30 years with three years off from 1986 through 1989 to serve as Chief Financial Officer at Eastside Foursquare Church in Kirkland, Washington. In 1989 he returned to Bank of America as the Regional Vice President for Business Bankcard Systems. Barbara taught private flute lessons in her home studio. She played with the Eastside Symphony, the Kona Symphony, for special occasions at churches in the Seattle metropolitan area and for the University of the Nations in Kona, Hawaii. She was the concert flutist in Los Angeles, California at the YWAM Global Arts Gathering. Barbara teaches interpretive signing and has signed to worship music for church and campus events. They came to the University of the Nations to attend Crossroads Discipleship Training School in October 2000. Gary and Barbara were team leaders for their Crossroads outreach to Thailand and the Philippines. Kona is their home, but the world has become their parish. |
